皇居東御苑 / East Gardens of the Imperial Palace ・ 北の丸公園 / Kitanomaru Park

The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were developed as a garden attached to the Imperial Palace in conjunction with the construction of the palace from parts of the Honmaru, Ninomaru, and Sanomaru areas of the former Edo Castle, and have been open to the public since 1968.

Kitanomaru Park was the site of the Edo Castle’s Kitanomaru during the Edo period (1603-1868), from which the name of the park and the name of the town derive. After the war, it was decided to utilize the park as a green space around the Imperial Palace, and it was renovated as a forest park. It was incorporated into the outer gardens of the Imperial Palace and opened to the public.

Baggage checks are conducted near the entrances of both.

The Electric Town is overwhelmed by the power of its flashy signboards and music playing in the storefronts. In addition to home appliances and audio products, there are many specialty stores offering a wide variety of computer-related goods, books, and game-related products. In recent years, there have also been many duty-free stores, and the pedestrian paradise held every Sunday (canceled in case of rain) attracts people from all over the world.
