Located on the west side of Tokyo’s 23 wards, the Tama area is also known as the Tokyo metropolitan area or Tama region. Tachikawa City is located in the center and west of Tokyo. Showa Memorial Park
National Showa Memorial Park is a national park covering a total area of 180 hectares, built on the site of the former Tachikawa Airfield. The park was planned to provide a place for a variety of recreational activities in a rich natural environment.
Takaosan is a 599 meter (m) high mountain located in Hachioji City, Tokyo. It is located in the Meiji-no-mori Takao National Park and the Tokyo Metropolitan Takao Jinba Nature Park. Located close to central Tokyo, the mountain is visited by many tourists and climbers throughout the year. It has long been considered a sacred mountain for Shugendo (mountain asceticism).
From the base of the mountain, visitors can take the cable car or lift to the midpoint of the mountain, which is about 472 meters above sea level. There are also three walking routes, all of which take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the summit.
It is a national monument where you can enjoy a leisurely hike in the mountains even on a day trip, and was designated a three-star Michelin star along with Mount Fuji in 2007.
